When we are born, we are complete blank slates. Yes, we have certain traits that have been passed down via DNA, but everything else is learned. Our food preferences, spoken languages, reactions to certain stimuli (like seeing a spider), beliefs about the world, beliefs about ourselves are all learned. When we are repeatedly exposed to something that triggers an emotion (a certain food makes us happy, a spider frightens us), it imprints onto our subconscious mind (considered the emotional mind). While the conscious mind (the intellectual or educated mind) has the ability to reject a notion (“No, the sky is not green, it is blue!”), the subconscious mind cannot. As a result, how we grow and develop, and more importantly, who we grow and develop into, is primarily based on the beliefs, habits, and behaviors we learn and embed into our subconscious minds without even realizing it. The groupings of these habitual subconscious beliefs and behaviors are called paradigms.

Paradigms control our thoughts, which control our actions, which control our results in life.

More specifically, our personal paradigms (the group of habitual thoughts and behaviors we have about ourselves) will determine how we see our role and purpose in this world. They will determine whether we are the lead character in our own movie or just “passenger on the bus” in the credits. I think it’s safe to say that we all want to be the Oscar-winning actor in our life story, but often we feel more like an extra. So how do we change that? First, we need to be aware of the different ingrained thoughts we have in order to recognize how they are truly affecting our lives.

In being able to recognize which paradigms we have, and how they are affecting us, we can work to make change. We can relearn our patterns and behaviors, make quantum leaps in the frequencies we are operating on and achieve those big, out of this world goals we never thought possible.
